The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an alarming increase to domestic sexual abuse cases due to strict quarantine orders. This lockdown has also caused victims to not report their abuse due to their being forced to stay in close proximity to their abusers.

Statistics from the Philippine National Police’s Women & Children Protection Center shows that during the period of March 14 – April 30, when initial lockdown orders began, there were 1,044 reported incidents of domestic sexual abuse in the Northern Luzon region alone.
